How do I import my StoryGraph library?

Premium

Generate an export in your StoryGraph account, then pick the CSV file in Spines.

StoryGraph imports work the same way as Goodreads ones. Send your rated books to Loved for better recommendations, or your to-read pile to your Wishlist so we can spot those books on shelves.

1. Export your StoryGraph library

  1. In a web browser, sign in at thestorygraph.com and open Manage Account.
  2. Scroll to Export StoryGraph Library and tap Generate export.
  3. StoryGraph emails you when the file is ready. Download the .csv file and save it to your phone (on an iPhone, save it to Files).

2. Import it into Spines

  1. Open the My Books tab and pick Loved or Wishlist.
  2. Tap + Add a book, then StoryGraph export.
  3. Tap Choose CSV File and pick the export.
  4. Tick the shelves you want, then tap Continue with … books. For Loved, tick read. For your Wishlist, tick to-read.
  5. Untick any books you don't want, then tap Import … books.

Keep Spines open until the bar finishes. Large libraries can take a few minutes.

If something goes wrong

  • The file is greyed out and won't select. Spines only accepts .csv files. If you opened the export in another app and saved it again, download a fresh copy from the StoryGraph email and pick that instead.
  • “Invalid file. Please check the CSV and try again.” The file is either not a CSV or bigger than 5 MB.
  • “We found 0 matched books across 0 shelves.” The file isn't a StoryGraph library export. Generate a new export and try again.
