Scanning issues
Make sure book spines are visible in the photo. Good lighting and a straight-on angle give the best results. Avoid extreme glare on glossy covers.
Subscription & billing
Subscriptions are managed via the App Store (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions) or Google Play (Play Store → Subscriptions). Changes take effect at the next billing date.
Frequently asked questions
Why didn't Spines recognise a book on my shelf?
This usually happens when a spine is partially hidden, the text is too small, or lighting makes it hard to read. Try getting closer to the shelf or improving the lighting. Very old or damaged books may also be harder to identify.
How do I restore my Premium subscription on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple ID or Google account you used to purchase Premium. Your subscription should restore automatically. If it doesn't, try opening Spines and waiting a moment, or check Subscriptions in the App Store or Play Store to verify your subscription is active.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes. You can request account deletion by emailing us at [email protected]. We'll process your request and permanently delete your data within 30 days.
What data does Spines collect?
We only collect what's needed to make the app work: your shelf photos (processed and discarded), identified books, and your reading preferences. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
